The 2026 Terrain Brings Trim Levels and Special Editions

October 20th, 2025 by

GMC completely redesigned the Terrain for the 2025 model year. While the overall size remained similar, it received an exterior design that closely aligns with the rest of the GMC lineup, featuring a bold rectangular grille, a C-shaped front lighting signature, and a more muscular stance. The interior was also fully redesigned, incorporating all-new technology and several new features. What the 2025 Terrain lacked, however, was a varied model lineup, as all Terrains were the Elevation trim level. That changes for 2026, with the Terrain lineup now including three distinct trim levels and, as the focus of this Valley GMC post, two special Edition models.

For 2026, the Elevation trim level is joined by the AT4 and Denali. Anyone with even a passing knowledge of GMC nomenclature knows what to expect from these trims by their names alone. The AT4 is off-road focused with a lifted ride height, all-terrain tires, and an exclusive Terrain drive mode. The model also features a front skid plate and an underbody shield.

The Denali is the flagship trim level, offering several luxury and convenience features. These include heating and ventilation for the rear seats, a digital rearview mirror, and bright exterior trim such as the 19-inch After Midnight alloy wheels. The 2026 model year provides even more choices, especially for those looking to fully commit to either off-road or luxury options.

The Elevation trim features two Special Edition Packages, each adding its own unique touch to the base trim.

Black Edition

The Black Edition accurately describes what this adds to the Elevation Edition. It is a trim package that gives a bit more attitude and a hint of Darth Vader to the Elevation’s exterior. Immediately noticeable are the 19-inch high-gloss black ten-spoke aluminum wheels, replacing the Elevation’s 17-inch wheels. The wheels are complemented by a blacked-out grille with black trim around the C-shaped lighting elements. The side mirror caps, roof rails, and other exterior trim all follow the blacked-out theme, including black GMC badging front and rear. The Black Edition has an added cost of $1,395.

Furthermore, the Elevation Premium Package includes 19-inch Technical Gray machined-face aluminum wheels for the exterior and CoreTec seating surfaces available in Dark or Gideon Gray colors. This material mimics the look and feel of leather while being more water-resistant, easier to clean, and generally requiring less maintenance. Additionally, the Dual-zone automatic climate control system automatically maintains individually set temperatures for the driver and passenger sides. It also includes a cabin humidity sensor that adjusts airflow automatically to better match the set temperatures.

The Terrain may be GMC’s smallest model, but it is big on capability, looks, value, and now choice. Visit Valley GMC for a test drive of the 2026 Terrain.
