Six Reasons to Choose the New GMC Terrain

May 10th, 2025 by

GMC has been GM’s dedicated truck company.  When you purchase a GMC truck, you know you are buying a serious vehicle—one built to a higher standard. GMC approaches its SUVs the same way, right down to its smallest SUV, the Terrain.  If you are looking for a compact crossover,  Valley GMC offers you these six reasons to choose the redesigned Terrain.

New Exterior Design

The Terrain’s exterior design is entirely new for 2025. The vehicle now shares a closer family resemblance to the brand’s truck lines, featuring a large rectangular grille combined with a distinctive headlight and DRL arrangement. For the first time, the model is available in a sharp-looking two-tone paint option. The all-new Black Edition package lives up to its name, showcasing black badging and trim, along with gloss black 19-inch wheels.

All New Infotainment and Connectivity

Every 2025 Terrain comes standard with a large 15.0-inch infotainment screen at the center of an attractive dashboard. The screen operates on the Google Built-in system, ensuring user-friendly displays and quick responses. Additionally, it features wireless smartphone connectivity to utilize and display either Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.

Additionally, Google Maps is integrated, so you don’t even need a smartphone to access the popular navigation app. Google Assistant is also included as an intuitive voice recognition feature that can take addresses for navigation, read and dictate text messages, and operate other vehicle functions. The system also provides access to the Google Play Store to download additional apps for your vehicle.

Spacious Cabin

The Terrain retains the spacious cabin of the previous design, but has been reconfigured to provide more space where needed. Rear-seat passengers enjoy 39.2 inches of legroom, which is about an inch and a half more than the Toyota RAV4, the segment’s sales leader. When three passengers are in the back seat, they will benefit from 2.3 inches of additional hip room compared to the RAV4. With the seats up, the cargo room is a generous 29.8 cubic feet, expanding to 63.5 cubic feet when the rear seats are lowered.

Standard Safety Technologies

The Terrain is equipped with a complete set of safety and driver assistance technologies, including front and rear emergency braking, which monitor pedestrians and intersections whether you are crossing or turning. Additionally, it features a blind spot alert system, rear parking sensors, Lane Keeping Assist with Blind Spot integration, and the convenience of adaptive cruise control. Available systems include Traffic Sign Recognition, which identifies relevant signs and displays them on the center display, as well as rear pedestrian detection and a surround-view camera system.

Efficient Operation

GMC found the 175 hp 1.5-liter turbocharged inline-four engine well-suited for the Terrain’s purpose. To enhance fuel efficiency, GMC incorporated a continuously variable transmission. This change resulted in a two-mpg improvement in city driving, yielding overall EPA-rated city/highway/combined figures of 26/28/27 mpg with front-wheel drive and 24/28/25 mpg with all-wheel drive.

Affordable Pricing

Terrain is priced to be affordable. The MSRP starts at an even $30,000 and includes all the standard features mentioned above, plus quite a few more. Even if you add nearly all available options and packages, the MSRP will be between $36,000 and $37,000.

GMC designed and packaged the Terrain to compete well in the competitive compact crossover segment. It should definitely be on the shopping list of anyone considering this category. If that applies to you, we invite you to visit Valley GMC in Auburn, WA, to test drive the new Terrain.
