Sierra EV Decidedly Beats Cybertruck Range

Thanks to its odd surfacing and proportions and plenty of publicity, the Tesla Cybertruck has captured abundant attention in the electric pickup truck arena. You can have something far more practical in utility and range with the Sierra EV. GMC’s Sierra EV is more conventionally designed for the simple reason that it is more effective in carrying people in the cabin and cargo in the bed. Today, Valley GMC is happy to add that the Sierra EV exceeds the Cybertruck’s range by about a hundred miles. 

Though the Cybertruck was initially promised to have a 500-mile range, that was reduced to 340 miles when it reached production. By contrast, the Sierra EV was originally estimated to have a range of 400 miles. Now in production form, it exceeds that estimate by 10% to 440 miles. 

The Sierra EV outperforms other competitors as well. Its 440-mile range surpasses the maximum estimated range of the Ford F-150 Lightning (320 miles), Rivian R1T (410 miles), and even GMC’s own Hummer EV Pickup (314 miles). The only model it doesn’t exceed is the mechanically similar Silverado EV.

Launching with the range-topping Denali Edition, the Sierra EV boasts a GM-estimated 10,000 pounds of max towing capacity and 1,450 pounds of max payload. These figures have also increased over the original estimates by 500 and 150 pounds, respectively. 

The power figures are impressive, with a rating of 754 horsepower and 785 lb-ft of torque in its Max Power mode. An Air Ride Adaptive Suspension ensures a remarkably comfortable ride and keeps the vehicle level regardless of load. It can adjust the truck’s ride height by up to two inches when needed. The MultiPro MidGate™ extends the cargo bed into the rear of the cabin like an SUV. Combined with the standard MultiPro Tailgate in its load-stop position, you have a maximum load floor length of nearly 11 feet. 

The model features a 4-wheel Steering System for improved maneuverability and the CrabWalk feature, which turns the rear wheels in the same direction as the front to side-step the truck around tight spaces. The available Super Cruise’s true hands-free highway driving system will also be available to make the over 400-mile range more relaxing.
