How Do Car Seats Fit in the GMC Acadia?
The all-new GMC Acadia has made everyone fall in love with the three-row SUV. Whether it’s the amount of interior volume, cargo space, the styling, Super Cruise, or the infotainment, there is plenty to like in this new SUV. The Acadia did very well in Cars.com’s recent Car Seat Check test, showcasing its ability to cater to families of all sizes.
How Cars.com Tests Vehicles
Cars.com’s innovative Car Seat Check allows the editors to help buyers truly know which cars, trucks, and SUVs, like the GMC Acadia, are the best family-hauler models. For testing purposes, the editors use a Chicco KeyFit 30 infant-safety seat, a Graco Contender 65 convertible seat, and a Graco TurboBooster seat, and then grade each from A to F.
Extra Testing Methods
The editors put the forward-facing convertible seat in the middle seat of the second row, while putting the booster and infant car seats in the outboard spots. This tests how easy or difficult it is to have three car seats in the second row. To get a passing grade, the child in the second-row booster seat must also be able to reach the seat belt buckle with ease. For vehicles like the 2025 Acadia with a third row, they also put the booster and forward-facing convertible all the way in the back.
How Did the Acadia Do?
The Acadia scored very well overall, with the grade of A in Latch, rear-facing convertible, forward-facing convertible, infant, booster, and third-row access. The publication gave the Acadia a C in booster and forward-facing convertible in the third row. However, it should be noted that the third row will not be occupied by small children except in very specific and rare situations. Because the fully loaded Denali test model had captain’s chairs, they obviously couldn’t conduct the three-car-seat second-row test.
Starting Price, Trim Levels, Power, and Towing Capacity
For 2025 the GMC Acadia has a starting MSRP of $44,940 and is available in three trim levels, including Elevation, AT4, and Denali. All models come standard with front-wheel drive but can be optioned with all-wheel drive. Buyers will appreciate the potent new 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder that produces 328 horsepower and 326 lb-ft of torque that is paired with a smooth and quick-shifting eight-speed automatic transmission. When properly equipped, the Acadia can tow up to 5,000 pounds, making it ideal for hauling the family while towing jet skis, a boat, a camper, or pretty much anything else.
Super Cruise Will Change Your Life
The Acadia is like no other vehicle in its class, because it is the only one that features Super Cruise, the brilliantly advanced true hands-free driver-assistance technology. Super Cruise allows drivers to engage the system and take their hands off the wheel on over 750,000 miles of public roads throughout the United States and Canada.
Interior Cargo Space
When it comes to size, the Acadia is not only great for car seats and boosters, but also all the things that come along with parenthood, including toys, backpacks, strollers, and more. Behind the third row, owners will find 23 cubic feet of space with the seats upright and 57.3 when they’re folded down. Folding the second row increases cargo space to a healthy 97.5 cubic feet.
Standard Safety Features
Regardless of the trim level you choose to buy, each model comes standard with excellent safety features and technology via GMC Pro Safety, including Forward Collision Alert, Following Distance Indicator, Front Pedestrian and Bicycle Braking, IntelliBeam High Beam Assist, HD Rear Vision Camera, Rear Park Assist, Safety Alert Seat, Rear Cross Traffic Braking, Blind Zone Steering Assist, Buckle to Drive, Rear Seat Reminder, Intersection Automatic Emergency Braking, Rear Pedestrian Detection, Enhanced Automatic Emergency Braking, Adaptive Cruise Control, Speed Limit Assist, Side Bicyclist Alert, Enhanced Lane Keep Assist, Reverse Auto Braking, and Traffic Sign Recognition.
