GMC Sierra Truck Bed Gets More Storage Solutions

Among all the innovations that GMC has put into its trucks, the one item that has changed the least is the truck bed. Outside the addition of a liner, it remains essentially the same large open box it has been for over a half-century. And as a large box, it is much better at carrying large things.  The little things can bounce and slide around the bed, requiring you to strap them down.  

For many of our truck customers at Valley Buick GMC, the truck bed is just a blank canvas from which they add all the appropriate accessories to make it work strictly for them.  This is why GMC offers 123 products for the truck bed alone to tailor a Sierra 1500 to your needs. These can be as simple as a net that straps to side hooks to keep items from sliding around, full-width toolboxes, a safety rack protecting your rear window, or both soft and hard tonneau covers.

Your Mobile Pegboard

For 2024, a new bed accessory has been introduced that can significantly add utility for the right user.  The Utility Wall Package consists of metal grates that mount on the front and side of the bed, allowing you to attach anchors anywhere on the grate, with which you can then rubber strap any number of items anywhere you want against the surface.  It is kind of like the pegboard by your workbench except that it is designed to be mobile and thus secure items in place regardless of bumps and turns.  

Tagged with RPO code PCO, the Utility Wall Package is designed for the Sierra Crew Cab Short Bed configuration. The option costs $1,495 and includes the following (relevant RPO code in parenthesis):

• Bedside Utility Wall Package (RVY)
• Utility Wall Latch Kit (5WI)
• Front Bed Utility Wall Package (SJS)

Another new option for this year is a drop-in bedliner (VZX); however, the bedliner and Utility Wall Package are not compatible with each other.  Panels can also be purchased separately for the front bed wall and each side.  Individual side panels are available for the standard bed as well.
