GMC HUMMER EV Pickup Carbon Fiber Edition Blows Supercars and Pro Drivers Away

It is only recently that cars have been able to reach 60 mph in under three seconds, and we all know what such cars look like. Low, two-seater, probably mid-engine, or at least a sports coupe with a high-performance engine. The GMC HUMMER EV Pickup looks like the complete opposite of this. Big, tall, and upright, with a large four-door cabin and a truck bed, the HUMMER EV Pickup doesn’t look like it belongs in the under-three-second club. But it is, and it is even faster than all those low-slung supercars in the iconic 0-60 metric. Valley GMC provides the details.
For 2026, GMC upgraded the 3X versions of the HUMMER EVs to 1,160 horsepower and made some other calibration changes “based on a better understanding of what the battery and the motors are capable of,” says KC Connolly, Lead Development Engineer for the GMC HUMMER EV. “That’s what enabled us to drop the 0-60 mph time below three seconds.”
They knew that all that power going to all four wheels would put it in supercar acceleration territory. However, rather than just have you read the 0-60 figure, they gathered a handful of sports cars and supercars from Porsche, Ferrari, Aston Martin, the Ford GT, Dodge Challenger Demon 170, the HUMMER EV Carbon Fiber Edition, and several professional drivers to the Texas Motor Speedway for a six-way drag race to 60 mph. The Carbon Fiber Edition features 22-inch carbon fiber wheels, a carbon fiber skid plate insert, and a black-painted approach shield.

Threatening to turn the race into a farce, the HUMMER was also designated as the camera vehicle for the event, which involved complex mounting of a power-operated camera arm and a professional film camera hanging behind the HUMMER’s tailgate, along with two camera operators in the back seat. On the other hand, as this was a closed course, the Watts to Freedom boost control was fully and legally available for each run.
As it turned out, the truck’s performance clashed with its camera vehicle duty. “When we lined them all up together and took off, the HUMMER EV was so far ahead, we lost the shot,” says stunt coordinator Andrew Comrie-Picard. “The cars were too far away, and it just wasn’t a good look because they were just way off in the distance.” Run after run, the HUMMER EV pulled consistent 0-60 times of 2.8 seconds. And this was in 90-degree heat with the air conditioning on full for the HUMMER’s three occupants.
“Any time you’ve got to put your head against the headrest before you launch is a sign you’re going to have a good time,” says Dave Carapetyan, the Pikes Peak class winner who drove the HUMMER EV for the video. “I hold this (launch control) button, the thing squats down, and then I just let off the brake pedal and look like a superhero.”

“Nothing can compare to the capability of the HUMMER EV,” Carapetyan goes on to say. “It’s so rad to have that kind of performance on tap in an otherwise practical vehicle.”
The HUMMER EV Truck is the vehicle that can do it all. It comfortably seats five passengers, offers ample cargo space, and delivers smiles and thrills every time you hit the open road. See what this kind of performance and capability can do for you by visiting Valley GMC in Auburn, Washington.
