Changes For GMC in 2023
Valley Buick GMC sharing recently announced changes in 2023 for GMC! A full redesign of the Canyon mid-size pickup stated as the biggest change to the GMC side, with the Sierra 1500 enhancements, updating additional model lines new trim levels, tech upgrades, and news of the latest Hummer EV SUV on the horizon.
Canyon Is Fully Redesigned
The all-new Canyon will be taller and wider with completely new exterior styling that echos the Sierra. The grill is large and bold with high-mounted LED driving lights and almost hidden LED headlights flanking the grille. All Canyons will be powered by a 2.7-liter turbocharged Inline-4, though the engine will have three steps of tune ranging from 237 hp and 259 lb.-ft. of torque to a stomping 340 hp and 430 lb.-ft. Also new with this 3rd generation will be the off-road-focused AT4X trim.
The Canyon interior features an all-new instrument panel that follows the new horizontal-themed design in the Sierra with an 11.3-inch screen. The infotainment system uses a smooth and fast Google Software operating system and features wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Available features such as an 11-inch digital gauge cluster and a head-up display bring additional tech to the interior.
The ProSafety Package is now standard on all models and will include the following:
- Automatic Emergency Braking
- Front Pedestrian Braking with Bicyclist Detection
- IntelliBeam auto high beams
- Following Distance Indicator
- Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning
- Forward Collision Alert.
A New AT4X AEV Edition will be Sierra 1500 Most Off-Road Capable Model Ever
On the heels of last year’s very sophisticated interior redesign, the available 3.0-liter Duramax turbodiesel has been upgraded to 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque representing an increase of 10% and over 7% respectively.
The Sierra adds its most off-road-focused model with the AT4X AEV Edition. AEV stands for American Expedition Vehicles and the famed off-road aftermarket company supplies several key components including front and rear bumpers, a full set of skid plates, and laser-engraved gloss black 18-inch AEV Salta wheels complete with AEV’s recessed valve system. Mounted on the wheels are 33-inch Goodyear Wrangler Territory MT tires. The AT4X AEV Edition has 11.2 inches of ground clearance and a front approach angle of 32.5 degrees.
Sierra HD gets a refresh for the 2024 Model Year
The mid-cycle refresh of the 2024 Sierra HD began production in February 2023. It will feature new styling, the Sierra 1500’s new dash, new tech, and enhancements to the powertrain. An off-road-focused AT4X model will be added to the HD lineup for the first time.
2024 Hummer EV SUV Anticipated Arrival
The 2024 Hummer EV SUV began production in February, starting with the sold-out Edition 1. The three-motor EV3X and two-motor EV2X trims will follow, arrival yet to be announced. The Hummer EV SUV is mostly based on the EV Pickup platform but has a 9-inch shorter wheelbase giving it a similar overall size as the Yukon.
The EV3X is expected to produce 830 horsepower and 11,500 lb-ft of torque. Acceleration will be near supercar level with an anticipated sprint from 0-60 mph in 3.5 seconds with the standard Watts to Freedom1 short-term burst. Featuring Four-Wheel Steering, CrabWalk diagonal-drive functionality, and an 800-volt DC public fast charging capability of up to 300 kW which could add up to 100 miles of range in 10 minutes.
More Power for the Terrain
The biggest change for the Terrain mid-size SUV is increased power from the 1.5-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine to 175 with 203 lb-ft of torque. A new Denali Black Diamond Package includes a SkyScape® power sunroof, heated rear outboard seats, and adaptive Cruise control.
New Denali Ultimate grade for Sierra 1500 and both Yukon Models
On top of the enriched Denali grade for these models is the Denali Ultimate, which features standard 4WD, a Vader Chrome (dark) grille, a 12-speaker Bose audio system with Centerpoint Surround Sound, and Heated and Ventilated 16-way Power Front Seats with Massage. It and the Denali models will be available with Super Cruise.
2023 will debut the all-new Canyon, new off-road full-size truck models, expansion of the Denali lineup, and anticipated arrival announcement of the Hummer EV SUV.
