Buick Is JD Power Best Mass Market Brand

J.D. Power is among the most prominent ratings and reviews organizations around, and its awards are coveted across the automotive industry. The organization recently honored Buick with top marks in the 2023 U.S. Sales Satisfaction Index Study, which gave the automaker the top spot among mass-market brands last year.

The award is Buick’s second in a row, topping the study with a score of 824 out of a possible 1,000. GMC came in second with a still-impressive 821. “Buick continues to perform and deliver from a position of strength with our customers, and this ranking further demonstrates our efforts.” Buick-GMC’s Global Vice President, Duncan Aldred, said. “Credit goes to our dealers, who ensure our customers have a great sales and ownership experience.”

Buick had a great year last year, growing retail sales by 57.6 percent. The brand has rolled out new products, including the Envista, updated Encore GX, and more. Buick is also expected to debut its first electric model for the U.S. soon. 

J.D. Power found that buyers of internal combustion engine vehicles have higher satisfaction than EV buyers among mass-market brands. Much of that comes down to the dealer experience, where buyers want more information about EVs, from charging to range to basic operations. Another glitch for many new buyers has been higher prices, which shows that Buick and its dealers are on top of things from a customer experience standpoint. 

Other mass-market winners from General Motors include Chevrolet, which won for mass-market car satisfaction. GMC took the top spot for SUV/minivan and truck satisfaction. It’s also worth noting that Chevrolet was the third-best overall, with 812 out of 1,000.
