Patient Financial Assistance and Support Groups

Funding Local Cancer Research

Through their substantial donations, Valley Girls & Guys have played a vital role in advancing cancer research. Their contributions to research programs at Seattle Children’s Hospital and the Cancer Vaccine Institute at UW Medicine drive innovation and progress in cancer treatment. For those with terminal diagnoses, Valley Girls & Guys grant “Who Dreams.” These dreams serve as a source of inspiration and a reminder to cherish the moments in life. By fulfilling these dreams, they bring joy and comfort to individuals during their most challenging times.

Personalized Blankets of Comfort and Hope

To offer physical comfort and emotional support, the organization runs the Glenda Weiler Blankets of Comfort and Hope program. They send personalized blankets to individuals undergoing cancer treatment, providing a warm and comforting reminder that their community stands with them in their fight. Valley Girls & Guys understand that local support services are essential for cancer patients and their families. They extend their support to initiatives like Camp Kesem, Mountain For Mammaries, and Casting for Recovery, which offer unique and meaningful assistance to those affected by cancer.

Funding Preventative Care and Scholarships for High School Students

Preventative care is a crucial aspect of the battle against cancer. The organization funds mammograms, ultrasounds, and biopsies for those who are uninsured or underinsured, increasing access to early detection and potentially life-saving interventions. Valley Girls & Guys believe in investing in the future. To support young individuals affected by a cancer diagnosis, they provide scholarships to local high schools. This financial aid helps these students pursue their dreams and education despite the challenges they face.

Community Outreach Program – Be The Hope Walk

The Be The Hope Walk is a cornerstone of Valley Girls & Guys’ efforts, encouraging the community to unite and raise awareness and funds for their cause. This event not only raises significant contributions but also fosters a sense of unity and shared purpose in the fight against cancer. 

Recent achievements of Valley Girls & Guys are truly commendable. They have raised over $3.2 million to date for the Susan G Komen Foundation, which is an extraordinary milestone in their mission. Notable events like the SGK Seattle walk in 2018, which raised $128,086, and the SGK San Diego walk, raising $126,392 with just 58 walkers, are a testament to their unwavering dedication. In 2017, they raised an impressive $228,694 in the SGK Seattle walk with 114 walkers.
