25 Years of Denali

About 2,300 miles from where we’re standing, there is a peak that speaks its majesty—the pinnacle for all to behold. It stands 20,000 feet above sea level and is the dominant piece of the Alaskan landscape. 

It is called “Denali” – the highest mountain peak on the North American continent. 

When GMC wanted to create a luxurious lineup of models, it wanted to call it something substantial—something majestic, representing the pinnacle of Professional-Grade design. 

They, too, call it “Denali” – the most desirable trim level of all GMC vehicles. 

For the past 25 years, GMC has offered the most luxurious trim across our lineup. It all began in 1999 with the Yukon SUV. It arrived with a distinctive grille, wheels, and trim. Inside, the Yukon Denali offered acres of leather and other luxury appointments. It offered the most standard features of any SUV in its class. 

The success of the Yukon Denali gave GMC a new way to sell its vehicles by providing a level of luxury that attracted everyone. That idea was expanded to include the 2002 Sierra 1500 Denali, the first luxury pickup truck of its kind. Customers were treated to the same level of luxury found on the Yukon Denali with the capability of a full-size half-ton pickup truck. 

By 2010, the Denali trim level was available on the Sierra HD pickup trucks and the Acadia SUV. In 2013, the Terrain Denali was introduced. The Canyon mid-size pickup truck offered its Denali version for 2017. When the Sierra EV arrives at our dealership soon, it will be initially offered in a Denali model. 

All of these GMC models offered a level of luxury that elevated our lineup. Right now, they are the most desirable trim levels on each model, selling faster than any other trims on any given GMC model. When our customers come into our dealership, they first want to see the Denali model before any other trim.  

As the pinnacle of their respective GMC models, the Denali has become the measurement of the quality they should expect in them. Each Denali model offers possibilities for how they want their vehicle to be equipped, how they feel, and the level of comfort they ultimately want. 

There is more to the Denali story. What if you wanted more? More than anything a Denali has offered before? Last year, we welcomed the Sierra 1500 Denali Ultimate. The Sierra Ultimate trim added a distinctive grille design and specific chrome trim, an upgraded Bose Premium Audio system with metal speaker grilles, and heated and ventilated 16-way power front seat adjustments. All Sierra 1500 Denali Ultimate models are equipped with a larger 13.4-inch diagonal center touchscreen with a 12.3-inch diagonal Digital Driver Information Center.

For 2024, the Denali Ultimate trim becomes available on the Sierra HD pickup truck.
