2027 GMC Sierra 1500: The Most Advanced, Luxurious, Capable Sierra Ever

The GMC Sierra has long served as a benchmark for what a full-size pickup truck can be. Based upon the new 2027 GMC Sierra 1500 which was just revealed, we think that tradition of excellence is due to extend well into the future. Valley GMC is excited to announce that GMC provided a preview of new truck, which is expected to arrive in late 2026. 

“The 2027 GMC Sierra 1500 is an uncompromising, no-excuses truck, purpose-built to conquer any task with unmatched refinement, precision, and capability,” said Mark Dickens, Executive Chief Engineer for Full-Size Trucks and SUVs. “Not only have we engineered these trucks to be incredibly fun to drive, but they’ll provide customers with the versatility to haul with confidence, tow with command, head off-road with conviction, and arrive at dinner in style. The Sierra represents one of the most advanced and rigorous engineering development and validation programs GM has ever executed. We’ve taken premium trucks to a whole new level.” 

You might expect the new Sierra 1500 to feature updated front-end styling and new technology, but did you anticipate the availability of two entirely new small-block V-8s in its four-engine lineup? The all-new, more powerful 5.7-liter and 6.6-liter gas V-8 engines incorporate advances in combustion, cooling, and control systems, along with a new fuel injection system. These upgrades improve refinement and performance while emphasizing Sierra’s durability on and off the road. They help optimize power, torque, and overall performance across various driving conditions – from daily commutes to rock crawling and towing. Specific power figures will be announced closer to launch. 

Rounding out the engine lineup is the 2.7-liter TurboMax inline-4, which already delivers best-in-class torque for base full-size truck engines, and the Duramax turbodiesel inline-6, the torque champion of the lineup. Also new for 2027, the TurboMax joins all other engines in using the existing 10-speed automatic transmission.  

The exterior has been beautifully upgraded with an evolved design of the signature headlamps and taillamps, now featuring welcoming and farewell animations that add a warm touch. It also includes eye-catching GMC signature DRL lights, a more upright grille for a commanding look, and available quad exhaust outlets, along with other trim-specific details. These elements come together to give the truck a bold and confident presence that truly stands out. 

Inside is an all-new dashboard with several new features, including the MultiPro console, which does for center consoles what the MultiPro tailgate did for tailgates. Up front are dual wireless phone charging pads, followed by dual cup holders and a handy storage bin. The padded armrest flips up to reveal additional storage, as expected, but it can also flip forward to provide a flat work surface for your laptop or for writing notes or on documents. 

The Sierra AT4X builds on its current credentials with 35-inch Goodyear Wrangler Territory MT tires, new Multimatic Jounce Control Dampers for improved on- and off-road composure, and both front and rear locking differentials, providing a class-exclusive capability. 

True to form, the 2027 Sierra 1500 Denali Ultimate provides a full luxury vehicle experience while still delivering full pickup truck capability. It features a 12.2-inch digital driver display and a class-leading 16.3-inch center display which articulates to ease use and provide additional storage. There is also an 11.5-inch screen exclusively for the front passenger, while the driver benefits from a multicolor 15.5-inch Head-Up Display (HUD). Finally, the center rearview mirror can also serve as a display for the rear camera, providing you with a clear view no matter how tall your rear passengers are or how high the load is in the cargo bed.
