2024 GMC Sierra EV: All You Need to Know

The long-awaited 2024 GMC Sierra EV will launch this year, and there are quite a few fun and positive things to know about it, more than its being an all-electric pickup truck. It has a range of more than 400 miles, can charge faster than any other electric truck at a Level 3 fast charger, and will even outshine the GMC Hummer EV in some respects. 

Denali Edition 1

The 2024 Sierra EV Denali Edition1 will be the first model to arrive at Valley GMC with a base price of $99,495, not including the $1,995 destination fee. However, in 2025, the AT4 and Elevation trim levels will be rolling onto dealer lots, costing quite a bit less, although we do not yet know those prices. GMC has said that a base version of the Sierra EV will cost about $50,000. 

Unmistakably GMC

When looking at the Sierra EV, there will be no mistaking that it’s a GMC truck, such as with the GMC-specific LED headlights and front grille plate that reads GMC in big, bold lettering. The electric truck will also only be available in a four-door crew cab configuration, which is mostly what truck buyers prefer.

Displays

With more than 40 inches of total interior digital displays, the Denali Edition 1 will have a lot of information at your fingertips. The main screens will be an 11-inch instrument cluster display, a 14-inch head-up display, and a 16.8-inch touchscreen infotainment display. 

Range and Power

The original range estimate GMC was shooting for was 400 miles to a charge in the 2024 Sierra EV Denali Edition 1. However, they have beaten that target. The Sierra EV will have 440 miles of total range. The truck manufacturer also estimates that the Sierra EV will have 754 horsepower and 785 lb-ft of torque and is capable of charging at 350 kW through an 800 Volt DC Fast Charging station, which will give drivers 100 miles of range in just 10 minutes, bringing EVs even closer to gas-powered cars’ ability to get gas quickly. 

A Unique Tailgate and MidGate

One of the new Sierra EV’s most unique features is the MultiPro MidGate, which allows a maximum loading length of almost 11 feet with the MidGate down and the MultiPro Tailgate’s load stop open. 

Max Towing and Special Features

With an estimated max towing capacity of 10,000 lbs and a max payload of 1,450 lbs., the Sierra EV can tow pretty much anything you want. Super Cruise, the revolutionary hands-free driver assistance software, will be a prominent feature of the Sierra EV, as will 4-wheel steering, allowing the EV truck to CrabWalk and maneuver better in all driving situations. Air ride suspension will also enable the Sierra to be raised and lowered by up to 2 inches.
