The GMC Yukon and Yukon XL Get a Major Tech Refresh
Full-size SUVs have long been the specialty of American automakers, and General Motors is one of the most prolific manufacturers in the space. Its GMC Yukon and Yukon XL are getting a significant glow-up for 2025, bringing a new infotainment system, updated interior designs, and a new AT4 Ultimate trim.
The 2025 Yukon’s base engine remains in place from the prior year. It’s a 5.3-liter V8 making 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque. GMC offers two upgraded engines: a 6.2-liter V8 with 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque and a 3.0-liter Duramax Turbodiesel with 305 horsepower and 495 pound-feet of torque. All engines pair with a ten-speed automatic transmission and either rear- or four-wheel drive.
One of the most significant updates is the infotainment system, where GMC now offers a 16.8-inch display as standard. It includes Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a host of other compelling tech features. There’s also an available eight-inch rear climate touchscreen to let passengers dial in the perfect temperature.
The new AT4 Ultimate trim gets 20-inch wheels with all-terrain tires, a front skid plate, adaptive air suspension with up to two inches of lift, and a plush interior with full-grain leather and ash burl wood accents. At the top of the range, the Denali Ultimate adds 24-inch wheels, 16-way powered/heated/ventilated front seats, massaging seats, and a second-row executive seating option. The top trim also brings a 22-speaker Bose Performance Series stereo.
GMC also upgraded the Yukon’s safety equipment for 2025. New standard features include front pedestrian and bicyclist detection, rear cross-traffic braking, side bicyclist alerts, and intersection automatic emergency braking. Super Cruise is available, and the automaker offers a range of new trailering tech, such as blind zone steering assist and a transparent trailer camera view. Buyers can also add jackknife alerts and other features that make trailering a breeze. That will help take full advantage of the SUV’s 8,400-pound towing capacity.
GMC will build the 2025 Yukon at its Arlington, TX, assembly facility. It will be available by the end of 2024, and pricing details will be released closer to the on-sale date.
