Taking the 2024 GMC Canyon AT4X AEV To the Limit
Everyone wants to go off-roading across the Puget Sound!
We have the terrain to do it in. You will find off-road parks across the state of Washington. Numerous old logging roads have been beaten down with ruts and moguls everywhere, from the Pacific Coast to the other side of the Cascade Range.
This is why off-road-ready pickup trucks are the rage today. They are equipped with the proper ground clearance, angles of approach, departure, and breakover. They are protected by skid plates and offer the technology to keep you from getting stuck or lost.
GMC has the one truck that can make your off-road experience, as Car and Driver said in a recent review, full of “giggles.” The 2024 Canyon AT4X is made to conquer the trail with the right equipment.
What makes the AT4X off-road-capable is a set of features provided by American Expedition Vehicles. AEV adds rear heavy-duty cast integrated recovery points, larger fender flares to enable larger 35-inch tires, a wider 66.3-inch front and rear track, and a bed-mounted vertical tire carrier with a full-size spare wheel and tire. Plus, AEV adds hot-stamped boron steel skid plates underneath the Canyon’s frame and a set of stamped steel bumpers for a layer of protection to keep your truck from damage.
MultiMatic DSSV shocks keep the Canyon AT4X suspended from any surface. These shocks feature three separate spool valves to control damping and three connected chambers for fluid flow. Their longer travel is due to AT4X’s three-inch lift, which gives it a 10.7-inch ground clearance.
To give it the right grip, a set of 17-inch AEV beadlock-capable Salta alloy wheels are installed with 35-inch Goodyear Wrangler all-terrain tires.
Power comes from the TurboMax four-cylinder turbocharged engine. It puts down 310 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque. This is no ordinary four-cylinder engine, as it can do more than just get through the trail. You can also tow with a Canyon AT4X – up to 7,700 pounds when properly equipped.
Keeping things easy in the face of a challenge, the Canyon AT4X has the right equipment to make the right moves safely. There are up to 10 camera views, including one mounted below the frame, to capture every angle of your maneuver where you need all the spotting help you can get. Those views are shown on the 11.3-inch center touchscreen. The same screen also has a set of off-road pages to show you everything your AT4X is doing in real-time. You can also keep tabs on your Canyon AT4X through the myGMC app.
Even in the face of a challenge, the 2024 GMC Canyon AT4X has everything you need to make your off-road trek “giggle”-worthy. To simply giggle at every bump, rut, and puddle.
