GMC AT4 vs Denali Models

We are all familiar with the concept of model line grades or trim levels. They are basically hierarchical in nature. You start with a base model with a certain level of standard features, and then as you move up, each trim level offers more features inside and out. There are aesthetic enhancements, more convenience features, sometimes enhanced performance, and so on. Finally, you reach the top; the flagship model with the most luxurious interiors, the most technology, and basically the most…everything. But it is different at GMC, whose model lines include not one top model, but two.
Due to the nature of GMC vehicles as accommodating passenger vehicles on one side and capable utility vehicles on the other, at or near the top of every GMC model line, the hierarchies diverge. The luxury path is represented by the Denali line, while AT4 models represent the most off-road capable.

Denali: The Pinnacle of Professional Grade
Denali models represent the highest standard in the GMC line and their industry segments. Denali models are immediately identifiable by the intricate brightwork of their grilles and other chrome trim in the front and the rest of the exterior. Large, boldly designed wheels fill the wheel wells. Elsewhere, the vehicles bristle with accommodating enhancements such as the Multi-pro tailgate or power liftgate, cargo lighting, and other such enhancements.
Often, the most powerful drivetrains sit under Denali hoods, ready to transport any number of passengers and cargo with effortless power. Even the driving may be nearly effortless with the hands-free Super Cruise driving system becoming available across the Denali model line.
Inside, refinement, and sophistication are everywhere with premium materials like soft leather and real aluminum trim. The highest level of electronic technology is on hand with highly configurable power seats and the finest audio and infotainment systems available in the model line. Inside and out, everything about Denali tells people that whatever you do, you do it well.
Some GMC model lines offer a model line within the Denali grade with a top-ranging Denali Ultimate over the already luxuriously appointed Denali models.

AT4: The Most Capable GMC Models
The AT4 name represents a focus on greater off-road capability. The vehicles feature raised ground clearance, higher approach and departure angles, stronger and more abundant skid plates, and specific off-road technologies. AT4 models can be quickly identified by their bold black-chrome grilles, other black trim, visible skid plates, and unique wheels wrapped with Goodyear MT tires.
Features can vary greatly by model line, and in some cases, there are AT4, AT4X, and AT4X AEV grades from which to choose depending on your needs and desires. Thus crossover SUV AT4 models will feature standard AWD, a Traction Select System, Hill Start Assist, Hill Descent Control, and enhanced towing ability.
AT4 and AT4X pickups take things a step further, such as 4WD with an Automatic-Locking Rear Differential, MultimaticTM DSSV Dampers, and Front and Rear e-Lockers. Here you will find standard or available waterproof front and rear underbody cameras to give you fore-and-aft high-definition views of ruts, rocks, stumps, and other obstacles so you can maneuver appropriately. AT4X models feature an AEV Stamped-Steel Front Bumper with Front Winch Capability. AT4X AEV models draw from American Expedition Vehicles (AEV) accessories and know-how to get your truck ready for serious overlanding.

Denali and AT4 Overlap
While the Denali and AT4 models clearly have their respective focuses, they overlap in their amenities and abilities as well. A 4-wheel drive Denali is no slouch off-road, while you will find AT4 models as refined inside as they are rugged outside. So your choice does not have to be between luxury and capability so much as between extreme luxury and extreme capability. One way or another, you will find a GMC truck or SUV to suit your needs and desires, and where you will find them is at Valley Buick GMC.
