Getting Your GMC Ready for Camping
While camping is obviously a year-round activity and hobby that millions of Americans enjoy, some of the best times of the year to get out there are during the spring and summer months. A GMC is meant to be used in all types of situations, and camping is one of the better ways to experience and enjoy your new truck or SUV.

Camping with a GMC Truck
If you have a Sierra or Canyon, you may want to look into getting a pop-up or hard-side camper that can slide into your bed. If you prefer something less expensive, you can always opt for a roof- or bed-mounted tent that opens for a nice, safe place to sleep and then neatly packs up when you’re ready to be on your way. You can also go with a pop-up canopy that uses your bed as a sleeping surface.
Camping with a GMC SUV
If you have a Terrain, Acadia, or Yukon, then a rooftop tent would be a great option, or you can tow a camper. All three vehicles offer plenty of storage to carry camping gear, including a tent, sleeping bags, blankets, cooking materials, extra clothes, and a cooler with food and drinks.

Check Your Tires or Get Better Tires for Your Trip
No matter what your camping plans are, you should check your tires and make sure they are in good shape. If you plan to do any off-roading, or if you know there are going to be snow-covered trails, then you should change your tires to some all-terrain or mud terrain/off-road tires to be sure you can drive safely.
Have Your Vehicle Serviced Before You Head Out
Before any big trip, it’s wise to bring your vehicle into the service department to get a fresh oil change, brake fluid flush, and cooling system top-off, for example. Have your brake pads checked. If you plan on doing any towing, have your transmission fluid flushed and install a new transmission fluid filter. New wiper blades should also be in order, too. When it comes to your vehicle, you absolutely do not want to be stranded because of a simple maintenance issue.

There Is Plenty to Do Out There, and Your GMC Can Handle It
There are many things to do in the beautiful Pacific Northwest. Check out some of the wildlife (please do so from a safe distance and without disturbing them) and enjoy some hiking, biking, canoeing, and rowing. With a creative setup, you’ll be able to carry various adventure gear. You can also decide to sit around and do absolutely nothing while enjoying the fresh air with all the peace and quiet you could ever dream of.
What You Should Bring
If the weather turns bad, make sure to have extra pairs of socks and underwear so you can stay dry. Pack everything in waterproof containers, from your clothes to your food. It’s also good to bring plenty of matches and some lighters. Keep a tire repair kit and scissor jack with you at all times, too. A spare tarp or two is always a good idea.

It’s Better to Have Extra
No matter what, always bring more than you expect you’ll need. You don’t have to bring the entire kitchen sink, but just a little bit extra. If you have questions or concerns about what to bring with you or how to prepare your GMC for a trip, feel free to call or stop by and talk to our service department or sales team.
