2025 GMC Hummer EV Crew Cab vs. The Competition

The Tesla Cybertruck is even newer than the GMC Hummer EV, but its polarizing looks and expensive launch models have struggled to find mass appeal. Like the Hummer EV, the Cybertruck is for buyers who are drawn to the apex of the segment, where power and capability are more prized than frugality.

• The GMC Hummer EV Crew Cab and the Tesla Cybertruck offer competitive standard power, with the horsepower advantage going to Tesla (593 hp) but the torque advantage going to Hummer (557 lb-ft.).
• The range-topping Hummer EV 3X offers a whopping 1,000 horsepower and 1,200 pound-feet of torque, eclipsing the Cyberbeast’s 834 hp and 740 lb-ft.
• At 200 kWh, the Hummer EV’s standard battery pack is much larger than the Cybertruck’s (123 kWh).
• GMC offers a much stronger on-board charger on the Hummer EV (19.2 kW vs. 11.5 kW).
• The Hummer EV’s premium cabin is more befitting of its high price tag than the more spartan Cybertruck’s.

The Rivian R1T is now considered part of the “old guard” of electric pickups. First released in 2021, the R1T was just updated in 2025 to help it keep up with its competitors.

• The standard GMC Hummer EV offers a bit more power than the base Rivian R1T (570 hp vs. 533), but Rivian has the advantage in standard torque, with 610 lb-ft to the Hummer’s 557 lb-ft.
• The Hummer EV 3X commands respect with 1,000 horsepower and 1,200 lb-ft of torque, while the R1T Ascend’s tri-motor configuration offers only 850 hp and 1,103 lb-ft.
• The Hummer EV’s standard battery pack is much larger than the R1T’s, offering 200 kWh (vs. 92.5 kWh).
• GMC offers a much stronger on-board charger on the Hummer EV (19.2 kW vs. 11.5 kW).

The Ford F-150 Lightning is perhaps the most conventional of all the electric pickups. While its competitors are largely based on next-generation, multi-energy (gasoline, hybrid, EV) platforms, the F-150 Lightning looks suspiciously like a standard F-150. That’s no bad thing. After all, the F-Series is the best-selling pickup lineup in the world, and the Lightning offers many of the same advantages that make its gasoline- and hybrid-powered cousins such strong competitors, including segment-leading capability.

• The GMC Hummer EV Pickup and Ford F-150 Lightning both offer similar standard horsepower, with a slight edge going to the Lightning. The Ford makes 580 horsepower to the Hummer EV’s competitive 570 hp.
• With up to 1,000 horsepower on tap, the Hummer EV 3X offers significantly more horsepower than the most powerful F-150 Lightning.
• The standard Hummer EV can achieve up to 329 miles on a single charge; the base F-150 Lightning’s range is slightly less at 320 miles.
• GMC offers a beefier standard on-board charger on the Hummer EV (19.2 kW vs. 11.5 kW). A 19.2-kilowatt on-board charger is available on the F-150 Lightning as optional equipment.
• The GMC Hummer EV Pickup and Ford F-150 Lightning offer comparable 240-volt charging times.
• The standard Hummer EV charges completely in 16 hours; the F-150 Lightning requires 14.6 hours.
