2025 GMC Hummer EV Crew Cab vs. The Competition
The 2025 GMC Hummer EV Pickup is the final boss of American electric Crew Cabs. This ground-pounding, crab-walking, eye-catching monster can be specced with 1,000 horsepower and 1,200 pound-feet of torque, guaranteeing that it delivers both conspicuous design and ultimate capability. What sort of capability? Try 7,500 pounds of towing capacity and 1,487 pounds of payload. And since it’s a Hummer, you can count on some off-road capability, with optional locking differentials available for both the front and rear axles. If you can’t go there in a 2025 Hummer EV Pickup, you may have no business going there at all.
The GMC Hummer EV was one of the first electric trucks on the market when it debuted in 2021 as a 2022 model. While most EV pickups have focused on range or big numbers, the Hummer EV has it all: a 0-60 time of 3.3 seconds, the ability to tow up to 12,000 lbs when properly equipped, 381 miles of range, and off-road capabilities that could rival a Baja 1000 purpose-built truck.
One feature everyone loves is the Infinity Roof with removable transparent Sky Panels that allow the Hummer to become the closest thing to a convertible EV pickup you’ll find.
Pricing starts from $99,540 and is available in two different trim levels: the 2X dual-motor with 570 horsepower and the tri-motor 3X with 1,000 horsepower. From there you can option the Extreme Off-Road Package, 24-module battery for extra range, and more.
GMC Hummer EV Truck vs Tesla Cybertruck
The Tesla Cybertruck is even newer than the GMC Hummer EV, but its polarizing looks and expensive launch models have struggled to find mass appeal. Like the Hummer EV, the Cybertruck is for buyers who are drawn to the apex of the segment, where power and capability are more prized than frugality.
- The GMC Hummer EV Crew Cab and the Tesla Cybertruck offer competitive standard power, with the horsepower advantage going to Tesla (593 hp) but the torque advantage going to Hummer (557 lb-ft.).
- The range-topping Hummer EV 3X offers a whopping 1,000 horsepower and 1,200 pound-feet of torque, eclipsing the Cyberbeast’s 834 hp and 740 lb-ft.
- At 200 kWh, the Hummer EV’s standard battery pack is much larger than the Cybertruck’s (123 kWh).
- GMC offers a much stronger on-board charger on the Hummer EV (19.2 kW vs. 11.5 kW).
- The Hummer EV’s premium cabin is more befitting of its high price tag than the more spartan Cybertruck’s.
- The Hummer EV comes standard with Google Built-In infotainment with Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
- Every GMC is available with OnStar guidance.
- The GMC Hummer EV is offered with a removable T-top roof, which is not available from Tesla.
- The Hummer EV offers more interior cargo room than the Tesla Cybertruck (11.3 cubic feet vs. 7.1 cu. ft.).
- The GMC Hummer EV’s more conventional bed style more readily accommodates large, boxy items and makes it easier to access them from the ground without reaching.
- The Hummer EV is offered with standard 22-inch alloy wheels (vs. 20-inch wheels on the Cybertruck).
- The Hummer EV offers a rubberized cargo mat for easy cleaning.
- A cargo area light is also standard on the Hummer EV; the Cybertruck has none.
- GM offers standard Bose Audio in the Hummer EV, and it can be optioned with in-bed speakers not available on the Cybertruck.
- The Hummer EV offers conventional push-button start versus the “always-on” Cybertruck.
- The GMC Hummer EV’s charging port features bidirectional charging, allowing it to feed energy back to the grid or power your home. Tesla does not yet offer bidirectional charging.
- The Hummer EV offers a rear seat reminder system and blind spot monitoring with trailer coverage.
- The GMC Hummer EV is available with the MultiPro tailgate, which is not found on its competitors.
GMC Hummer EV Truck vs Rivian R1T
The Rivian R1T is now considered part of the “old guard” of electric pickups. First released in 2021, the R1T was just updated in 2025 to help it keep up with its competitors.
- The standard GMC Hummer EV offers a bit more power than the base Rivian R1T (570 hp vs. 533), but Rivian has the advantage in standard torque, with 610 lb-ft to the Hummer’s 557 lb-ft.
- The Hummer EV 3X commands respect with 1,000 horsepower and 1,200 lb-ft of torque, while the R1T Ascend’s tri-motor configuration offers only 850 hp and 1,103 lb-ft.
- The Hummer EV’s standard battery pack is much larger than the R1T’s, offering 200 kWh (vs. 92.5 kWh).
- GMC offers a much stronger on-board charger on the Hummer EV (19.2 kW vs. 11.5 kW).
- The GMC Hummer EV can be optioned with locking front and rear differentials for improved off-road performance.
- Despite its size, the Hummer EV offers a smaller standard turning circle of just 44.3 feet, vs. 44.9 for the Rivian, making it slightly easier to park and maneuver.
- The GMC Hummer EV Pickup offers more interior space in every category with the exception of second-row headroom, which favors the Rivian by just under an inch.
- GMC’s standard 60.1-inch bed is longer than the Rivian’s standard 54.1-inch bed.
- GMC offers premium Bose audio as standard equipment in the Hummer EV, while Rivian charges extra for a Dolby audio system.
- The standard ventilated disc brakes on the GMC Hummer EV are larger both front and rear.
- The GMC Hummer EV comes standard with a fully automated parking system.
- GMC offers remote engine start on the standard Hummer EV, which is not available on the Rivian R1T.
- The GMC Hummer EV can be optioned with factory front and rear mud guards.
- The GMC Hummer EV is available with the MultiPro tailgate, which is not found on its competitors.
GMC Hummer EV Truck vs Ford Lightning

The Ford F-150 Lightning is perhaps the most conventional of all the electric pickups. While its competitors are largely based on next-generation, multi-energy (gasoline, hybrid, EV) platforms, the F-150 Lightning looks suspiciously like a standard F-150. That’s no bad thing. After all, the F-Series is the best-selling pickup lineup in the world, and the Lightning offers many of the same advantages that make its gasoline- and hybrid-powered cousins such strong competitors, including segment-leading capability.
- The GMC Hummer EV Pickup and Ford F-150 Lightning both offer similar standard horsepower, with a slight edge going to the Lightning. The Ford makes 580 horsepower to the Hummer EV’s competitive 570 hp.
- With up to 1,000 horsepower on tap, the Hummer EV 3X offers significantly more horsepower than the most powerful F-150 Lightning.
- The standard Hummer EV can achieve up to 329 miles on a single charge; the base F-150 Lightning’s range is slightly less at 320 miles.
- GMC offers a beefier standard on-board charger on the Hummer EV (19.2 kW vs. 11.5 kW). A 19.2-kilowatt on-board charger is available on the F-150 Lightning as optional equipment.
- The GMC Hummer EV Pickup and Ford F-150 Lightning offer comparable 240-volt charging times.
- The standard Hummer EV charges completely in 16 hours; the F-150 Lightning requires 14.6 hours.
- The Hummer EV’s standard automatic climate control includes independent rear seat controls, while the Lightning’s rear bench offers vents but no controls.
- Both the Hummer EV and F-150 Lightning offer standard heated steering wheels. The GMC Hummer EV also offers a standard heated rear seat.
- The Hummer EV offers optional in-bed audio, which is not available on the base trim of the F-150 Lightning.
- The GMC Hummer EV is offered with a removable T-top roof, which is not available on the F-150 Lightning.
- In addition to optional locking front and rear differentials, the GMC Hummer EV Pickup can be equipped with skid plates to protect the underbody off-road. The F-150 Lightning cannot.
