2026 GMC Yukon and Yukon XL

Performance

The 2026 Yukon is available with two gas and one diesel engine option. Standard on the Elevation and AT4 trim levels is a 5.3-liter V8, producing 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque. Available on the AT4 and standard on the Denali is the 6.2-liter V8, which produces 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. Available on all trims is a 3.0-liter inline-6 turbodiesel producing 305 horsepower and 495 pound-feet of torque. All engines are paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission and either rear- or four-wheel drive. Both V8s feature variable valve timing and Dynamic Fuel Management.

The Yukon is equipped with an independent rear suspension for an improved highway ride. The AT4 is equipped with GMC’s Four-corner Air Ride Adaptive Suspension, which can raise the vehicle up to two inches to improve ground clearance when off-road.

Exterior

The new Yukon features unique grille patterns, wheel options, and lighting elements. Denali Ultimate variants come with 24-inch wheels, while the AT4 Ultimate has 20-inch wheels and underbody skid plates for enhanced off-road protection. GMC will also offer appearance packages that add blacked-out exterior trim and other touches.

Interior 

The Yukon offers three rows of seating and ample space. GMC offers captain’s chairs in the second row, which reduces maximum occupancy from eight to seven, but the addition improves interior mobility and makes access to the third row easier. The Denali Ultimate features open-pore, laser-etched wood accents and 16-way, powered, heated, and ventilated front seats. The AT4 Ultimate features full-grain leather upholstery, wood accents, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel.

Both Yukon and Yukon XL provide the same spacious cabin for first- and second-row passengers, with the latter offering a whopping 42 inches of rear legroom. Third-row passengers get 34.9 inches of legroom, while the Yukon XL expands this to 36.7 inches. Of course, the largest difference between the two is in cargo space. The Yukon’s cargo space behind the third, second, and first rows is 25.5, 72.5, and 122.8 cubic feet, respectively. For the Yukon XL, this expands to 41.5, 93.6, and 144.5 cubic feet. 

Technology

All 2026 Yukon and Yukon XL variants come standard with a 16.8-inch touchscreen powered by Google Built-in. The system includes several Google services, such as Google Maps, and supports downloadable apps from the Play Store. Other standard tech includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth, SiriusXM radio, HD radio, USB inputs, and more. The Denali includes a 22-speaker Bose Performance Series sound system with stainless-steel head-restraint speakers in the front row and the second-row captain’s chairs.

Safety

The 2026 Yukon earned an overall 5-star rating from the NHTSA. Safety technology features include front pedestrian and bicyclist braking, rear cross-traffic braking, side bicyclist alerts, intersection-turning automatic emergency braking, and more. Night Vision is available on the Yukon and Yukon XL models and uses thermal detection to help the driver identify pedestrians and animals through a head-up display. GMC also offers Super Cruise, which enables hands-free driving on more than 750,000 miles of limited-access highways across the U.S. and Canada.

The Yukon also features a suite of trailer technologies, including a transparent trailer view, blind spot steering assist with trailer coverage, a trailer path monitor, jackknife alerts, and a trailer tire air-pressure monitoring system.
