2026 GMC Terrain

Performance

All 2026 Terrains are equipped with a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine producing 175 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque, or 203 lb-ft for AWD models. The FWD Elevation uses a continuously variable transmission, while all AWD models come with an 8-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive (FWD) is standard on the Elevation, with all-wheel drive available. Both the Denali and AT4 models come with standard AWD. 

The 2026 Terrain AT4 offers impressive capability in a compact SUV. In addition to standard AWD and the regular Normal, All-Wheel Drive, Off-Road, and Tow/Haul drive modes, it features an AT4-exclusive Terrain Mode. The AT4 Terrain Off-Road Tuned Suspension and increased ride height enhance driver control on rugged terrain. It also includes all-terrain tires, red front recovery hooks, and a front skid plate with a steel underbody shield. 

Exterior

The 2026 Terrain makes a bold statement. Its truck-inspired design draws inspiration from the Sierra and Yukon, creating a cohesive GMC design language across the lineup. The Terrain looks commanding with an upright grille and C-shaped DRLs. A two-tone roof option adds a dynamic touch. The AT4 trim features skid plates, a steel underbody shield, red recovery hooks, and substantial sidewall protection with 17-inch wheels. The luxurious Denali edition boasts a bright-faced grille, 19-inch machine-finished wheels, and animated head and tail lights.  

Additional exterior features include RainSense wipers, heated wiper park, and AutoSense power liftgate, automatically opening the liftgate when the key fob is nearby.

Interior

The Terrain cabin features sleek, modern design and authentic materials that are meant to stimulate your senses and broaden your horizons. It also offers features like heated front seats and steering wheel, remote start, and exceptional versatility with 60/40-folding rear seats for additional cargo space. Additionally, there are available ventilated seats for the driver and front passenger, as well as rear outboard heated seats. To let in more light, both the AT4 and Denali models are available with a panoramic sunroof.

Technology

Technology quickly asserts itself on the Terrain dash with a standard customizable 11-inch diagonal digital driver’s information center paired with a 15-inch diagonal premium GMC Infotainment System. The system runs on the Google Built-in operating system, which includes onboard Google Maps and the efficient Google Assistant voice activation system. It also provides wireless smartphone compatibility and 5G Wi-Fi hotspot capability. The cabin remains quiet partly because of Active Noise Cancellation, which blocks ambient noise with reversed-phase signals from the audio system.

Safety and Driver Assistance

The Terrain features High Definition Surround Vision, such as the available Rear Camera Mirror. HD Surround Vision helps provide exceptional visibility with up to eight camera views. The available Rear Camera Mirror offers a clear view behind the vehicle, even when cargo or passengers block the view inside the cabin. 

For extra peace of mind, a complete set of safety and driver-assistance features comes standard, including:
